Teaching in Rapid City in a few weeks

I am hoping to find other art quilters that would enjoy my blog as well as enjoying their blogs. I will try to post different pictures of my work.  I will try to learn how to do videos in the future so that they can see me making my quilts.  In the next few weeks I will be teaching at the AQS show in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and then in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Can't wait to see my students.

I am still learning how to post to this blog page. This is a picture of Avatar Revisted which is now in the American Quilter's Society Museum, as it placed Best Longarm Quilting at the Paducah AQS quilt show in 2012.

Getting started

I have been trying for several days to get this blog started.  I still have no clue how this blogging works but over the next few days, I will try to figure out how to add pictures.  I am a longarm quilting teacher and author, and have done many show quilts that have won many awards.  I love teaching students, especially beginners.
I have quilted with a longarm quilting machine for the last fifteen years, and only started quilting 18 year ago.  My first quilt was a utility quilt I did for my daughter.  I remember she loved it and wanted me to enter it into the county fair.  I was the only one at the show that did not received a ribbon.  Everyone else at least got a white ribbon.  The judge said it would make a great utility quilt but it wasn't good enough for a ribbon.  Honestly, I almost quit quilting, but after reflecting on my quilting experience, I really enjoyed cutting all that fabric apart and sewing it back together.  I studied hard, watched TV quilting shows and read every magazine and quilting book I could get my hands on.  I've learned so much and still set goals for myself every year to try to improve on some of my quilting skills.
PS My daughter still has that quilt on her bed, almost 18 years later.
